Kirk Cooper has been a lawyer since 1991. He attended the University of British Columbia where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the Law School at the University of British Columbia in 1989. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1991.
In 1993 Kirk established his own private practice. For many years Kirk shared offices with his friend and colleague Paul Willis who passed away unexpectedly in 2014.
Kirk has been actively involved in many different community organizations over the years. Kirk`s first position as a lawyer was as a contact lawyer with Flemingdon Community Legal Services (FCLS), a non-profit Ontario Legal Aid Plan Legal Clinic. Kirk became involved in 1995 on the Board of FCLS and has held several different positions including President and Treasurer. Kirk continues to be involved to this day with FCLS as an active board member. Kirk was also a founding member of the HIV AIDS Legal Clinic and sat on that Board for the first few years after its creation. Kirk Has also sat on several condominium corporation boards and most recently the Board of the Counterpoint Community Orchestra.
